MAVEN

A maven is a trusted expert in a particular field, who seeks to pass knowledge on to others. In thinking about the field of international work – I keep asking around who the go-to person is? If there is someone I would want to go to and ask questions about: working internationally, what skills/knowledge are needed for different fields, what are the best places to acquire those skills/knowledge, what are my options and what are my steps for moving forward . . . who would I go to? I think in the secular field, my answer would be Jean-Marc Hachey and his book: “The Big Guide to Living and Working Overseas”. But when it comes to the realm of international ministry, agency and missions work – I have yet to find someone I would recommend who has the knowledge needed to guide people to a comprehensive understanding of what it takes, what the agency options are and where they should get training before they go. If you’re reading this, and have some recommendations – please send them my way.
